Japan Exchange Program - Docomo
Global Studio is a program where 10 students from the University of Technology Sydney were selected from our course to attend to create a very fast pace project together. It is only one week and there were students from Thailand, Korea and Japan. The challenge was to overcome the language barrier and form teams.

The studio task
We were given the brief that Japan has a unique bike share system near train stations. However, the users of these bikes are always local Japanese rather than travellers. So we were required to think of solutions to encourage travellers from overseas to use the system safely and enjoy Japan.

We first conduct some research and look into the product. As a team, we put the product together and named the Product "Docomo Memories". "Docomo" has a meaning of anywhere in Japanese. So the core concept of our product is hoping the customers can create memories anywhere.

Everyday, We will have group dicussions on the new ideas and foundings.

The product aims to create a better experience of using bike share services for tourists. We designed a device that the customer can access anywhere the bike is returned/parked to register easier.

Instead of paying by time, customers can choose to pay by route as many tourists may not know the safe way and can waste lots of time travelling on a bike. Changing the current paying by time system allows the users to enjoy their time in Japan in a more relaxed and fun way! The route will be shown on the map and give the tourist the safest path. It will also give out “missions” as stopping at a specific destination. Once completed, customers can receive a gift after completing the mission.

The gift is a small simple souvenir of the printed photo and a photo stand that come in different iconic places depending on your own choice of route.
